Antonio Egiguren Iraola ofm (born in Bidegoyan, Basque Country on 07/12/1953)
 
- Studied philosophy and theology at the Major Seminaries of the Franciscan Province of Cantabria (today Province of Our Lady of Arantzazu)
- June 29, 1979: Solemn Profession into the Franciscan Order
- May 4, 1980: ordained as priest
- 1992: appointed as President of the Franciscan Foundation of Thailand
- Founded “Ban Clara”, centre for terminally AIDS patients
- 1999: MA in Mission and Interreligious Studies at Saint Paul University, Ottawa, Canada
- 2001: MA in Christian Ethics at Saint Paul University, Ottawa, Canada
- 2002: MA in Pastoral Theology at the KU Leuven
- 2005: Doctor in Theology at the KU Leuven
- 2007: Named Director of the Ferdinand Verbiest Institute, attached to the KU Leuven, and Professor at the KU Leuven, Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies
- 2007-2011: Teaching of courses at the Institute for Consecrated Life of Asia (Manila), at Deusto (Spain), at the Franciscan International Study Centre (Canterbury)
- 2011: Setting up of a Department of History at the Institute for Consecrated Life of Asia 
 
He speaks, apart from Bask, his mother language, Spanish, French, English, Italian, Dutch, Korean, Thai, Chinese, and Portuguese. He has studied Sanskrit and Arabic, in addition to Latin, Greek, and Hebrew. He is a member of the Research Unit Pastoral Theology.
