Emeritus Professor Lambert Leijssen (Hamont-Achel, Belgium, 1942) is a priest of the Diocese of Hasselt (ordained in 1966). Since 1969 he taught theology during 15 years at the Major Seminary of his diocese. In 1978 he acquired a Doctorate in Theology with a dissertation on the influence of Thomas Aquinas on the theology of the Reformer of Strasbourg, Martin Bucer. He was appointed at the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies of the KU Leuven in 1979 where he taught sacramentology and liturgy.
One can find a synthesis of his scientific research in the monography “With the Silent Glimmer of God’s Spirit. A Postmodern Look at the Sacraments” (Paulist Press, 2006). Since 1969, he was Director, and since 1989, President of the Pope Adrian VI-college, Hogeschoolplein 3, B-3000 Leuven.
