In his PhD (2006) he focused on Islam and end-of-life ethics. He is currently employed by the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies, KU Leuven, as study advisor and practise instructor for the academic programme Master in World Religions, Interreligious Dialogue and Religious Studies and as post-doctoral researcher he belongs to the Research Unit Theological Ethics. His current research topic focuses on the way in which Muslims in Antwerp deal with Islamic authority in relation to ethical aspects of treatment decisions towards the end-of-life.
