Brian Doyle (born in 1956) is a part time professor in the Research Unit Biblical Studies, specialising in the Hebrew Bible and related topics. He defended his dissertation on metaphors in the prophet Isaiah in 1999 (KU Leuven - published in 2001 as The Prophet Isaiah Metaphorically Speaking [Leuven: Peeters]) and has since extended his research into the use of metaphors in the Hebrew Bible to include the Psalms and other poetic texts.
His teaching assignments and research interests coincide: biblical Hebrew, the Psalms, and contemporary approaches to biblical studies. He is presently researching a second monograph on metaphorical language in the psalms of imprecation.
