Coming to Leuven

  • If you arrive in Belgium by plane, you will travel via Brussels Airport. From the airport there are two direct trains each hour, which take you to the centre of Leuven in about 15 minutes. For timetables, see: http://www.b-rail.be. You can also buy your train ticket on-line at the same website. A taxi from the airport to your hotel in Leuven will approximately cost you € 50, whereas the train ticket is only € 3.30.
  • If you arrive in Belgium by Thalys or the Eurostar, you will travel via Brussel Zuid/Bruxelles Midi. From Brussels Zuid/Midi there are at least six trains an hour which take you to the centre of Leuven. The journey takes about 30 minutes. Most trains in the direction of: Tongeren/Tongres, Eupen, Welkenraedt, Landen, Genk and Luik/Liège Guillemins stop in Leuven. Please note that Louvain-la-neuve is NOT the same place as Leuven (‘Louvain’ in French). For further details you can consult the yellow posters in the railway station or visit http://www.b-rail.be for timetables. You can also buy your train ticket from Brussels to Leuven on-line at the same website.
  • If you arrive in Belgium by train from the Netherlands or from Germany, please visit the website of the Dutch (http://www.ns.nl) or German (http://www.bahn.de) railways.
