Liberation Theologies
Liberation Theologies
In its attention for the topics of liberation, the preferential option for the poor and the work on the coming Reign of God, the Centre for Liberation Theologies feeds upon the various and rich tradition of different liberation theologies that have their roots in the Latin America of the 1960s, but are now widely spread all over the world.
Timetable Liberation Theologies
In this timetable, important liberation theologians of the 20th century are listed. They still are the main source of inspiration for many liberation theologies.
The table is divided horizontally according to continents and vertically according to decades (1950 to 2000). The names of important liberation theologians are then located accordingly, starting on the publication year of a relevant work. The names of major international events are set in red, while the names of liberation theological movements are set in green, clustered with their respective representative theologians. The bibliographical data per theologian will still have to be added onto the table.
The sourcebook for the information in the table is Alfred Hennelly, Liberation Theologies: The Global Pursuit of Justice (Mystic, Connecticut: Twenty-third Publications, 1996).
