Cognitive and Functional Approaches to the Hebrew Bible
Welcome at the homepage of the Research Group "Cognitive and Functional Approaches to the Hebrew Bible". We aim at exegeting the text of the Hebrew Bible using the tools provided by Cognitive Semantics and Functional Grammar. The Biblical books we are working on are Joshua and Job. Central themes are the ethics of warfare and the depiction of suffering as well as the metaphors used for the divine. We attempt to view theodicy and aetiology in light of present and past relevance.
