Expert-Symposium The Sixteenth-Century Mystical Renaissance in the Low Countries. The Arnhem Mystical Sermons. Text and Context
November 21-22, 2008.
Organisation: Ruusbroec Institute, Antwerp, and Institute for the Study of Spirituality, K.U. Leuven
The aim of this workshop was to bring about the sixteenth century mystical culture and the texts produced in this movement which have not yet been studied as a coherent phenomenon. The cultural and (church) historical factors that contributed to this revival of mystical literature as well as the relationship with former, contemporary and later mysical religious movements have not studied sufficiently to date. Therefore the symposium aimed to bring together scholars from different research areas and perspectives.
The following scholars participated in the symposium:
1. Prof. dr. Kees Schepers (Universiteit Antwerpen)
2. Dra. Ineke Cornet (K.U. Leuven)
3. Prof. dr. Thom Mertens (Universiteit Antwerpen)
