Centre for Ecumenical Research

Description
The Centre for Ecumenical Research was established on February 11, 1994, for “the scientific study of the interaction between the confessional traditions within Christianity, an interaction which can be described as a process in the past and in the present of anticipating unity and stimulating the common action of churches in the world”. As an institutional member of Societas Oecumenica, the European Society for Ecumenical Research and the AAR group and international network Ecclesiological Investigations, the Centre is interested in scientific contacts and exchanges with other centres of ecumenical research.
The Centre is coordinated from within the Research Unit of Systematic Theology. The Centre organises lectures and publishes about method, content and ecclesiological implications of the ecumenical dialogue and is highly involved in Vatican II Studies as well. Members of the Centre are actively involved in the National Commission for Ecumenism of the Roman Catholic Church in Belgium and in the official international dialogue with the Anglican Communion and with the World Communion of Reformed Churches.
